Legal Translation in Dubai
MOJ Certified for UAE Courts
Certified legal translation for Dubai Courts, DIFC, ADGM, and UAE government filings. Every document carries an MOJ stamp, serial number, and QR code — verifiable on the spot by any clerk or ministry official. We translate under Arkan Legal Translation, License #701, and format each document for its specific receiving authority.
| Court System | Language | Document Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Courts / Abu Dhabi | Arabic required | MOJ-certified translation with stamp |
| DIFC Courts | English primary | Certified translation accepted |
| ADGM Courts | English primary | Certified translation accepted |
| RDC (Rental Disputes) | Arabic preferred | Authenticated translation recommended |
Why Translations Get Rejected
The most common rejection reasons we see: wrong court formatting (Dubai Courts and DIFC have different layout rules), missing stamp on individual pages of multi-page documents, terminology that does not match the court system (civil-law terms in a DIFC filing, or common-law terms in a mainland filing), and incomplete rendering — courts reject partial translations. Article 4 of UAE Civil Procedure Law requires certified translation of all foreign-language documents before admission. A rejected translation means re-filing, new court fees, and lost hearing dates.
What We Translate
Court documents: claims, judgments, witness statements, expert reports — formatted for the specific court’s submission rules. Contracts: commercial agreements, NDAs, SPAs, employment contracts — Arabic version becomes the binding text in mainland courts. Powers of Attorney: specific and general — scope language must match the notary’s requirements exactly. Corporate filings: MOA, board resolutions, shareholder agreements for DED and free zone authorities. Arbitration awards from DIAC, ICC, and LCIA for enforcement proceedings. For foreign-issued documents, we coordinate the attestation chain (origin country, embassy, MOFA) before translation.
What We Verify Before Delivery
- Party names match the original — character by character, including transliteration of Arabic names
- Case numbers, court references, and statutory citations carried over verbatim
- Terminology matches the receiving court system (civil law vs common law)
- Dates, amounts, and figures cross-checked against the source document
- MOJ stamp, serial number, and QR code on every page
- Layout formatted for the specific court or authority receiving the filing
Law Firm and Litigation Support
We work with Dubai law firms on litigation bundles, evidence preparation, and ongoing case translation. For multi-filing matters, we maintain a terminology index so that defined terms stay consistent across every document in the case. Exhibit numbering and court formatting follow the receiving court’s conventions. Confidentiality is contractual — we sign NDAs before seeing privileged material. Retainer arrangements available for firms with recurring volume.
The MOJ Framework
The Ministry of Justice licenses individual translators — not companies. Each licensed translator carries a unique registration number. The MOJ stamp, serial number, and QR code on a translation are what courts verify before accepting a filing. You can confirm any translator’s license by calling the MOJ hotline at 800 333333.
What Courts Check: Dubai Courts, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), and all UAE government authorities verify three elements: MOJ stamp with the translator’s unique registration number, serial number linking the translation to the MOJ system, and QR code — scannable on the spot to confirm authenticity. A translation missing any of these three elements is rejected at the filing window.
Legal vs General Translation
Legal translation differs from general translation in three ways:
- Terminology is jurisdictional: “Consideration” is essential in DIFC contracts but has no equivalent in UAE civil law — the translator must know which system applies
- Dual legal systems: Mainland courts operate under civil law (Arabic primary); DIFC and ADGM operate under common law (English primary) — different vocabulary, different formatting
- The Arabic controls: In mainland proceedings, the Arabic text is the legally binding version — a mistranslated clause changes the contract’s legal effect
Court Document Requirements
UAE courts enforce specific formatting rules for translated documents:
- Translation must be complete — courts reject partial translations, even if only specific clauses are at issue
- MOJ stamp required on every page, not just the certification page
- Multi-page documents must be bound with a security strip
Court Deadlines: Filing deadlines are strictly enforced. A missed deadline because the translation was not ready can result in case dismissal or default judgment. We confirm turnaround before you pay — standard documents ship within 24 hours, and our express service handles same-day court deadlines.
Contract Translation
Contracts have specific translation challenges:
- Defined terms (e.g., “the Property,” “the Parties”) must be rendered consistently throughout — we maintain a per-contract glossary
- Statutory references (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, DIFC Law No. 6 of 2004) must cite the correct Arabic or English version of the law
- Conditional clauses (“provided that,” “subject to”) have precise Arabic equivalents that change meaning if mismatched
Bilingual contracts: In mainland proceedings, the Arabic version controls. If the Arabic says “three months” where the English says “one month,” the Arabic prevails. This makes the Arabic translation the most consequential document in any dispute.
For Law Firms
We support firms across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the Northern Emirates:
- NDA signed before document review — standard for all privileged material
- Monthly invoicing with per-page or retainer billing
- Dedicated contact for your firm — no call center, same person every time
- Case-specific terminology index maintained across multiple filings
For litigation bundles exceeding 100 pages, we assign a dedicated translator who stays on the case from first filing through appeal.

Working With Us
How to Submit: Start through WhatsApp. Send clear photos or PDFs of your original documents. We review promptly and provide accurate quotes based on actual content requiring certified translation. For confidential legal contracts: encrypted email or client portals available.
Certifying the Accuracy: No guesswork in authenticated translation. When source text is ambiguous, we note it. If original documents contain errors, we flag them — we don’t “correct” official documents. Every certified translation passes quality checks for terminology, completeness, and formatting before stamp and signature authentication. For documents that need additional review, our professional proofreading service provides a separate multi-pass quality review.
Confidentiality: Strict confidentiality for all official documents. Our Ministry of Justice approved translators work under confidentiality obligations. No sharing with third parties. Enhanced security protocols available for sensitive legal contracts and government agency submissions.
Getting Started: Send original documents through WhatsApp for quick review and quote. Whether you face a court deadline tomorrow or plan ahead, we advise on appropriate certified translation service level. Law firms: ask about volume pricing for authenticated translations and dedicated contacts.
Many official documents require MOFA attestation or apostille for use in another destination country. We coordinate the complete authentication chain from original document through foreign embassy legalisation. View attestation services.
