Cheap Legal Translation Dubai: When Reddit Offers Go Wrong
A Reddit DM offering cheap court document translation. No MOJ stamp, no liability, no recourse. What happens when cheap translation gets rejected.
You posted on Reddit asking where to get a labour court document translated. Within an hour, two DMs: “I can do it cheap. Send me the file on WhatsApp.” No company name. No license number. No website. Just a phone number and a promise.
What a bargain-basement price gets you
It gets you a Word document. Maybe accurate, maybe not. What it does not get you:
- No MOJ stamp. Dubai Courts, DIFC Courts, and ADJD all require translations certified by a Ministry of Justice-licensed translator. Without the MOJ stamp, the court filing counter rejects it on sight. The MOJ is moving toward digital verification, making it even harder to fake credentials.
- No liability. If the translation contains errors that affect your case, you have no recourse. No license to report. No company to hold accountable.
- No verifiability. Courts can verify an MOJ translation by checking the translator’s license number (MOJ Hotline 800 333333). An unlicensed translation cannot be verified.
When this actually hurts
For informational purposes, understanding what a document says for your own reference: an informal translation might be fine. But court submissions are different:
- Labour disputes. MOHRE complaints have filing windows. A rejected translation means missed deadlines.
- Eviction responses. You have a limited time to respond to a Notary eviction notice. A rejected counter-filing wastes that window.
- Custody proceedings. Family court documents with translation errors can misrepresent terms that affect custody arrangements.
- RERA disputes. Rental evidence submitted without proper certification gets excluded.
In each case, you pay for the cheap translation, it gets rejected, you pay again for proper MOJ translation. You’ve lost time you may not have. For court document translation, the MOJ stamp is non-negotiable.
What proper certification costs
MOJ-certified legal translation includes the translator’s stamp, signature, and license number — everything the court checks. The difference between a suspiciously cheap offer and proper MOJ-certified translation is not the translation quality. It’s the legal validity. Getting that MOJ license requires passing a Ministry exam, and the path to becoming a certified translator in the UAE is not simple. Send your document via WhatsApp for an instant quote.
For court documents, the MOJ stamp is not optional. It’s the entry ticket. Without it, the court doesn’t care how accurate the translation is.
If you have a court document that needs MOJ-certified translation, send it on WhatsApp: +971 50 862 0217. Licensed translation (MOJ #701) that courts accept the first time.
