Golden Visa for Top 100 University Graduates — Which Documents ICP Actually Needs.
UAE Golden Visa Graduate category needs a QS or THE top 100 degree. ICP requires degree + transcript, both attested and translated. Full checklist.
You graduated from a QS or THE top 100 university. You qualify for a UAE Golden Visa under the graduate category. But ICP does not simply accept your degree certificate and issue the visa. They need specific documents, in a specific format, with a specific attestation and translation chain.
The graduate category requirement
The UAE Golden Visa graduate pathway targets holders of degrees from universities ranked in the top 100 globally. ICP accepts two ranking systems:
- QS World University Rankings — published annually by Quacquarelli Symonds
- THE World University Rankings — published annually by Times Higher Education
Your university must have held a top 100 position in either ranking during the year you graduated. The current year’s ranking is not what matters — it is the ranking at the time of your graduation.
Documents ICP requires
ICP needs four core documents for the graduate Golden Visa application. Missing any one of them triggers a resubmission request.
1. Degree certificate
Your original degree certificate proving you completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral programme. The certificate must name the university that holds the top 100 ranking. If you graduated from a joint programme, the certificate should reference the ranked institution.
2. Academic transcript
Your official academic transcript listing completed courses and grades. ICP uses the transcript to verify the degree was earned at the ranked campus. The transcript also confirms the graduation date, which ICP cross-references against the ranking year.
3. Passport copy
A clear scan of your passport bio-data page. This must match the name on your degree and transcript. If there is a name discrepancy, see our guide on name transliteration mismatches for how to resolve it before applying.
4. Emirates ID (if already a UAE resident)
Current residents must include an Emirates ID copy. New applicants entering on the Golden Visa do not need this.
The attestation chain
Both the degree certificate and transcript must be attested before ICP accepts them. The attestation process depends on your home country.
Hague member countries (India, UK, USA, Canada, Philippines):
- Get an apostille from the designated authority in your home country
- Get MOFA attestation in the UAE
Non-Hague countries (Pakistan, Bangladesh):
- Attest through the home ministry or foreign affairs office
- Attest at the UAE Embassy in your home country
- Get MOFA attestation in the UAE
Both documents — degree and transcript — must complete this chain independently. An apostille on the degree does not cover the transcript.
For the full country-specific breakdown, see the attestation guide.
Arabic translation requirements
After attestation, both documents need MOJ-certified Arabic translation. ICP does not accept English-only submissions, even from English-speaking universities.
Key translation rules:
- The translator must be MOJ-licensed (license number appears on the translation)
- The translation must be done after attestation, not before
- The Arabic version must reflect every stamp, seal, and attestation mark on the original
- Degree and transcript are translated as separate documents
If you translate before attesting, the Arabic version will not show the MOFA hologram or apostille reference. ICP treats this as an incomplete document. You would need a new translation of the fully attested original. See how this timing issue causes GDRFA rejections in our related guide.
Proving your university’s ranking
ICP cross-references your university against the QS and THE databases. In most cases, well-known institutions pass this check automatically. However, two situations require extra attention.
Your university dropped below 100 since graduation. If your graduation year ranking is the qualifying one, ICP may ask for proof. Save a screenshot or PDF of the QS or THE ranking page from your graduation year. The Internet Archive (archive.org) often preserves historical ranking pages.
Your university has a different name now. Mergers and rebranding happen. If your degree says “University of X” but the current ranking lists “X University,” include a letter from the university confirming the name change.
Branch campus considerations
Several top 100 universities operate branch campuses in the UAE and other countries. How ICP handles branch campus degrees depends on the degree wording.
- If your degree certificate names only the parent university (e.g., “New York University” without specifying Abu Dhabi), ICP typically accepts it under the parent ranking.
- If the degree explicitly names a separately ranked entity, ICP may evaluate it against that entity’s own ranking.
Check your degree certificate wording before starting the application. For NYU Abu Dhabi graduates specifically, we have a dedicated translation page.
The complete document checklist
Before submitting to ICP, verify every item:
- Degree certificate — attested and translated to Arabic
- Academic transcript — attested and translated to Arabic
- Passport bio-data page — clear 300 DPI scan
- Emirates ID copy (existing residents only)
- University ranking evidence (if university dropped below 100 since graduation)
- All documents scanned at 300 DPI with stamps clearly visible
- Each document uploaded as a single PDF (not separate image files)
For the full checklist covering all Golden Visa categories, see the Golden Visa document checklist.
Common mistakes that delay approval
Submitting degree without transcript. ICP requires both. The degree alone proves graduation but not the institution where coursework was completed. Always upload the transcript alongside the degree.
Using the wrong ranking year. ICP checks the ranking from your graduation year, not the current year. If you graduated in 2019, the 2019 QS or THE ranking applies.
Translating before attesting. The Arabic translation must capture every attestation stamp. If you translate first and attest later, the translation is incomplete. ICP will request the document again.
Low-quality scans. MOFA holograms and apostille stamps must be legible. Phone photos in poor lighting cause rejections. Use a flatbed scanner at 300 DPI.
Separate uploads for front and back. If your degree has attestation stamps on the back, scan both sides and combine into one PDF. Do not upload them as separate files — ICP may only review the first page.
How we handle Golden Visa graduate applications
Send your degree and transcript via WhatsApp — +971 50 862 0217. We verify that your university appears in the correct ranking year, confirm the attestation chain for your country, and provide MOJ-certified Arabic translations for both documents. If attestation is incomplete, we coordinate the MOFA step before translating.
