You Need a Certified Translation by Tomorrow Morning

Your PRO just called. GDRFA needs the translated marriage certificate by 10am tomorrow. Or MOHRE rejected the application because the degree translation is missing. Or the court hearing is Thursday and you just realized the contract has no Arabic version.

You search for “urgent certified translation” and wonder: is same-day service actually possible, or is it marketing?

It’s possible for the right documents. Here is what’s realistic, what isn’t, and — more importantly — what causes rejections even when the translation arrives on time.

What same-day MOJ-certified translation means

Same-day means you send the document before noon and receive the completed, MOJ-certified translation by end of the working day. For standard single-page documents, delivery within 60-90 minutes is common once you’ve sent a clear photo.

This is not a rough draft. It is a full legal translation with:

• MOJ licence stamp (MOJ Licence #701)
• Translator signature and official seal
• Arabic or English text matching the original exactly
• Digital PDF delivered via WhatsApp immediately upon completion
• Physical hard copy available same day for Dubai addresses

Speed does not affect legal validity. Courts, GDRFA, MOHRE, ICA, and banks accept same-day translations the same way they accept ones that took a week. The stamp, signature, and licence number are what determine acceptance.

Realistic timelines by document type

If someone promises a 30-page court judgment in one hour, be skeptical. A rush translation done by someone who doesn’t read the source language carefully creates downstream problems. The authority rejects the translation because a name is misspelled or a date is wrong, and you end up worse off than before.

What actually causes rejections

Rejection of an urgent translation almost never comes down to how fast it was done. It comes from:

Unclear source document. A blurry phone photo means the translator misread a number, a date, or a name field. The translation goes in with an error. The authority compares it to the original and rejects it. This is the single most common cause of rejection on urgent jobs.

Missing pages. You photographed the front of the birth certificate but not the back. The back has the registrar’s signature and issue date — fields that must appear in the translation. The authority sees the translation is incomplete.

Attestation not done. The document hasn’t been attested (MOFA stamped, embassy legalised, apostilled) before the translation. For documents going to GDRFA or ICA, the attestation chain must be complete first. Some applicants translate, then discover they needed to attest first. The translation they paid for cannot be submitted because the original was not processed in the right order.

Wrong certification type. For court submissions, MOJ certification is required. For some government tenders, a court-notarised translation is needed. A certified translation without the MOJ stamp may be acceptable for banking but rejected for judicial purposes. Always confirm what the receiving authority requires before ordering.

GDRFA-specific: what they want

GDRFA processes residency visas, renewals, and family visa applications. Their document counter accepts MOJ-certified translations. Common documents they request:

• Marriage certificate (Arabic translation of the foreign original)
• Birth certificates for children
• Degree certificates (for some visa categories)
• Police clearance certificates (PCC / good conduct certificate)
• Medical reports

For GDRFA specifically, bring both a digital copy and a printed hard copy. Some counters have older systems that require a physical document. Arriving with only a phone screen showing the translation PDF can cause a second trip.

MOHRE-specific: employment document requirements

MOHRE processes work permits, employment contracts, and labour dispute filings. If they’ve rejected a document, the most common issues are:

• The degree certificate translation doesn’t show the university name, the field of study, and the graduation date exactly matching the original
• The employment contract translation is missing a signatory or a page
• The translation uses a different transliteration of the employee’s name than what appears on their Emirates ID

Confirm that the translation uses exactly the same romanisation of your name that appears on your residence visa and Emirates ID. Mismatches between the translated document and your ID are a common MOHRE rejection trigger.

When attestation is also urgent

Translation and attestation are separate processes. If your document is not yet attested (MOFA stamp, embassy stamp, or apostille), you must complete attestation first — then translate.

If you’re in this position:

1. Contact MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) immediately — they have same-day counters for some document types
2. Contact the relevant embassy — some have express attestation services
3. Once the attestation is complete, same-day translation is achievable
4. If the embassy requires an English translation before they will attest a foreign-language document, that is a different sub-set of the process — confirm with the specific embassy

What to send for fastest turnaround

The main delay in urgent translation is not the translation itself. It is waiting for a clear, complete photo.

Before you send:

• Full document, full page. Don’t crop. Every stamp, seal, number, and signature needs to be visible.
• Both sides. If the document has a back, photograph it.
• All pages. Multi-page documents need every page.
• State your deadline. “I need this by 9am tomorrow for GDRFA” triggers a different priority than “whenever you can.”
• State the destination. GDRFA vs court vs bank may affect the format of the certified output.
