Keep two name forms without confusing them
The source may show a fully accented Vietnamese name while the passport uses an unaccented English form. Both matter: one proves what the document says; the other may control the destination identity field.
- Attach the original file or the sharpest available full-page images.
- List the accented source name and passport form side by side.
- State the recipient, country, purpose and intended submission date.
- Ask for unreadable marks and unresolved credential questions to be disclosed in the scope.
Date the advice as carefully as the document
Viet Nam's Convention entry is future-dated on this review date. Separately, UAE MOFA describes attestation as verification of signatures and seals. An English translation changes neither fact. Recheck the current MOFA service and HCCH status for the intended submission date.

What source should I provide for Vietnamese-to-English work?
Use the original digital file if possible. Otherwise send a sharp, uncropped image of every page, including stamps and reverse sides. Add the recipient, purpose and intended date of use, plus the accented source name and the passport's English form.
Can an English translation be made from a Vietnamese civil certificate?
Yes as a language task, but that does not establish acceptance for a particular procedure. Include any registration page and ask the receiving organisation what format, certification or authentication it requires before selecting the service.
Why can retyping Vietnamese cause a problem?
Vietnamese can put multiple marks on one letter, and visually equivalent text may use precomposed or combining characters. Retyping, OCR or image compression can drop a mark and change a word or name. Preserve the digital source or use a high-resolution page image.
Is Vietnamese-to-English automatically MOJ-certified?
No. A credential applies only through the eligible fulfiller and pair required for the intended use. Federal Decree-Law No. 22 of 2022 regulates translators and translation houses practising in the UAE and allows only a narrow judicial exception. Ask the written scope to identify the fulfiller rather than relying on a page-wide badge.
Can a Vietnamese document use the Apostille Convention today?
Not before 11 September 2026. On 9 August 2026, the Convention is not yet in force for Viet Nam; the HCCH status table gives 11 September 2026 as the entry date. For use on or after that date, the document, destination and recipient still need to qualify—entry into force is not automatic UAE acceptance.
Which English version of a Vietnamese name should control?
Use the passport or the identity record already governing the destination file. Keep the accented Vietnamese form visible alongside it and supply earlier English or Arabic variants. This distinguishes a deliberate identity form from a mark lost during conversion.
Does a clear scan prove digital delivery is acceptable?
No. It can be enough to inspect characters, pages and layout for a quote, but the recipient may demand an original, physical certified copy or separate authentication. Ask that question before treating a PDF as the final submission format.
