About This Document
The Pakistani Nikah Nama (نکاح نامہ) is the official Islamic marriage contract registered with the Union Council in Pakistan. It is a detailed multi-page document written in Urdu that records the full terms of the marriage, including both parties' names, father's names, witnesses, mahr, and special conditions.
In the UAE, a translated Nikah Nama is commonly needed for spouse visa applications, family sponsorship through GDRFA, health insurance enrollment for dependents, and personal status matters. We provide MOJ-stamped Urdu to Arabic translation; Urdu to English certified translation is also available if the receiving authority wants English.
Because Pakistan is not a Hague Convention member, the original document must go through Embassy verification and MOFA attestation if the receiving authority asks for attestation. The receiving authority decides acceptance.

Both are valid proof of marriage. The choice affects translation effort and cost. Use this flow to decide which to prepare.
Step 1 — Does your receiving authority specify which document they need?
- • They ask for "the original Nikah Nama" → Use the original handwritten/typed Nikah Nama
- • They accept either → Use the NADRA certificate (simpler, cheaper to translate)

Attestation Guidance: Pakistan Is Not a Hague Member
Since Pakistan has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention, UAE authorities may ask for embassy attestation. Check with the receiving authority; each step's timing is set by that authority:
- Attest the Nikah Nama through the Union Council in Pakistan
- Attest through Pakistan MOFA (Islamabad)
- Attest at the UAE Embassy in Islamabad or Consulate in Karachi
- Attest through UAE MOFA after arriving in the UAE

What is the difference between a NADRA nikah nama and a court nikah nama?
A NADRA nikah nama is the computerized marriage certificate issued by the National Database and Registration Authority. A court nikah nama is the original handwritten or typed document signed by the nikah registrar. Both are used in UAE submissions and the receiving authority decides which one it accepts, but NADRA versions are easier to read and translate. We handle both formats.
Does a Pakistani nikah nama need attestation for the UAE?
Pakistan is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. If attestation is required, your nikah nama must go through the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi followed by MOFA attestation. Not all submissions require attestation, check with the receiving authority first.
Can I use this translation for a spouse visa application?
Yes. A translated and (if required) attested nikah nama is one of the primary documents needed for a spouse visa application in the UAE.
