Immigration documents are time-sensitive. Visa applications, residency renewals, and status changes at GDRFA in Dubai require MOJ-certified Arabic translations of all supporting documents issued in foreign languages.

The common pattern in Dubai: a new employer pushes a work permit to MOHRE, the system returns a checklist with PCC and degree flagged as "translation required", and the applicant has a week before the file auto-closes. Or a Golden Visa submission through ICP or the Dubai Talent track stalls because a bank statement or salary certificate was attached in the wrong language. We have handled these reset workflows for a decade — same translator, same MOJ License #701 stamp, same formatting the reviewers recognize.

Common Immigration Translation Needs in Dubai

  • Driving licenses: RTA license exchange and new license applications
  • Abu Dhabi DOT license conversion: Driving license translation for Abu Dhabi Department of Transport
  • Salary certificates: MOHRE submissions for work permit renewals and sponsor changes
  • Employment contracts: For visa processing and labor dispute resolution

MOHRE Work Permit Translation Requirements

MOHRE (Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation) requires MOJ-certified Arabic translations for most documents submitted with a work permit application. The translation must be produced by a translator licensed by the UAE Ministry of Justice and must carry the MOJ license number, stamp, and signature. MOHRE will not accept translations from non-licensed agencies, notarized translations from foreign embassies, or general certified translations without the MOJ stamp.

Degree Certificates

MOHRE requires the degree certificate to be translated into Arabic with MOJ certification. The degree must also be attested: apostilled in the issuing country if it is a Hague Convention member, or embassy-attested for non-Hague countries. After attestation abroad, the degree needs a MOFA stamp in the UAE before the MOJ translation is produced. The correct sequence is: attestation in the issuing country, MOFA stamp, then MOJ-certified translation. See degree certificate translation for the full process.

Academic Transcripts

Some MOHRE work permit categories require an academic transcript in addition to the degree certificate. The transcript must also be MOJ-certified and translated in full, including course names, grades, credit hours, and the grading scale. Partial translations are rejected. Transcripts from non-English languages (Hindi, Urdu, French, and others) are translated directly into Arabic without requiring an English intermediate step.

Police Clearance Certificates

MOHRE requires a police clearance certificate from the applicant's country of last residence. The PCC must be attested and then translated into Arabic with MOJ certification. MOHRE typically rejects PCCs older than 3 months from the date of issue. For applicants who have resided in multiple countries, a PCC may be required from each country where the applicant lived for 6 months or longer. See the PCC translation page for details.

Professional Licenses

For regulated professions (healthcare, engineering, teaching, and others), MOHRE may require a translated professional license or registration certificate. These must carry MOJ certification. The license translation must include the issuing authority, license number, validity period, and scope of practice. Healthcare professionals should also check DHA or DOH requirements, which have additional documentation needs.

What MOHRE Accepts vs. Rejects

MOHRE accepts translations that carry the MOJ license number, the translator's official stamp, and a wet or digital signature from an MOJ-licensed translator. The translation must match the applicant's name exactly as it appears on the passport and Emirates ID. Documents must be translated in full, including all stamps, seals, and annotations on the original.

MOHRE rejects translations when any of these conditions apply. The translation was produced by a non-MOJ-licensed agency or individual. The MOJ stamp or license number is missing. The name on the translation does not match the passport or Emirates ID. The attestation chain is incomplete, such as a missing MOFA stamp or embassy attestation. The original document has expired, or the translation is older than 3 months. The translation covers only part of the document rather than the full content.

Common Rejection Causes

Immigration documents are rejected more often for translation issues than most applicants expect. The most common causes we see: expired translations submitted after the 3-month validity window. Name mismatches between the translated document and the passport. Missing MOJ stamp where non-licensed agencies were used. Incomplete attestation chains for police clearance certificates from non-Hague countries.

MOHRE specifically rejects work permits when translation documentation is incomplete or incorrectly certified. For a detailed walkthrough of a real case, see our post on why MOHRE rejected a work permit translation and how it was resolved.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our translation services.

Which immigration documents need translation?

Police clearance certificates, bank statements, driving licenses, salary certificates, and employment contracts all need MOJ-certified translation for GDRFA, ICA, and MOHRE submissions.

What does MOHRE require for work permit translation?

MOHRE requires MOJ-certified Arabic translations of the degree certificate, academic transcript, police clearance certificate, and any professional license. Each document must carry the MOJ license number, translator stamp, and signature. Translations from non-licensed agencies are rejected outright.

Do I need a translated PCC for every visa type?

Most employment and residency visa applications require a translated police clearance certificate. Tourist visas generally do not. Golden Visa applications require PCC from your home country and any country where you lived for 6+ months.

Does MOHRE accept translated degrees without attestation?

No. MOHRE requires both attestation and translation. The degree must be attested in the issuing country (apostille for Hague members, embassy attestation for non-Hague countries), then stamped by MOFA in the UAE, then translated by an MOJ-licensed translator. An unattested degree translation will be rejected.

Can you translate bank statements for visa applications?

Yes. Bank statements are commonly required for Golden Visa (showing investment funds), spouse visa (showing sponsor income), and investor visa applications. We translate from any language into Arabic.

Do you handle driving license translations for RTA?

Yes. We translate foreign driving licenses for RTA submission to obtain a UAE license. The translation must be MOJ-certified and is part of the license exchange or new license application process.

What about salary certificates and employment contracts?

Both are common requirements for visa renewals, status changes, and family visa sponsorship. We translate salary certificates, employment contracts, and NOC letters with MOJ certification.

How fast do you deliver immigration document translations?

Standard certificates (PCC, salary letter) are delivered same-day as a digital draft. Bank statements with multiple pages may take 24 hours depending on volume. Express service is available.

Are translations accepted by ICA (Federal Authority)?

Yes. Our MOJ-certified translations are accepted by ICA (Identity and Citizenship Authority), GDRFA (General Directorate of Residency), MOHRE (Ministry of Human Resources), and all other UAE federal authorities.

Do I need attestation for my PCC?

For employment and residency visas, the PCC typically needs attestation from the issuing country plus MOFA stamp in the UAE. We coordinate the full chain: attestation and translation.

What causes MOHRE to reject a work permit translation?

The most common rejection causes are: missing MOJ stamp or license number, expired translations past the 3-month validity window, name mismatches between the translation and the passport or Emirates ID, incomplete attestation chains, and translations produced by non-licensed agencies. We pre-screen every document to flag these issues before submission.
